Tiptoe through the tulips

Our picture-taking date weekend included a trip to the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival. This is a much-talked about event in the area and we haven't taken the time to explore it. So with the cameras in tow along with our monopods (we have to learn how to use these---much different than a tripod for stability!), we decided it was time to make the journey. The fields were beautiful and we, along with many other camera buffs, loaded up our memory cards!
You can choose a color and find a tulip to match! Acres and acres of the blooms. Some of the rows were done and others were filled with unopened buds. Glad I don't have to weed all those rows!

The farm has LOTS of fun things for kids to do as well....there's the wooden shoe train and lots of rides up at the main building. We didn't spend any time there as we really wanted to wander around all the fields.
Mt. Hood was clearly visible from the upper fields...a rare spring day to see the mountain in all her glory.
Can you say tulips?!
Across from the fields at the end was a majestic grove of hazelnut trees. Greg decided this was a great vantage point to look back on all the tulips.
Greg chose red tulips as his favorite. This was fun date and we really enjoyed the beauty of it all!
