Another chapter has begun!
It didn't take long before the new "plane" was being literally trucked into the hanger. Greg's dream has been to build his own plane and the project has begun. This will be the only post on my blog about the project as we have decided to dedicate a separate blog to chronicle this adventure. Once we have the blog established, I'll add the link!
This is the tail section - yep, in one box!!!! We are buying the kit from a local manuafacturer an hour away from us so we are able to save on those shipping costs! Luckily we took a tarp with us just in case of rain and that is did - the rain came down hard (can you tell we are used to NW weather?!??)
One chapter has closed.....
It is official: the trike has been sold and our days of trike flying are over. It is bittersweet; we had a lot of fun, enjoying the early morning and evening flights. Greg especially liked taking family and friends up and showing them our beautiful country from 500 feet! It was hard to see someone else take this plane home!

September in Seattle
Our date weekend for September had some changes due to weather! We had planned to hike on Mt. Rainier and of course, Murphy's law was in full force: Labor Day weekend and rain, rain, rain! We started out that morning, ready to head up to the mountain, but the rain was just more than we wanted to deal with! So we quickly changed plans and headed up to Pike's Place in Seattle. We had a great time and enjoyed ourselves in spite of the rain. One thing Northwesterners are known for: rain can't keep you indoors (but it did keep us off the mountain!)
Taste of Italy!
1-2# tomatoes, quartered or halved
2-3 cloves of garlic, smashed
1 onion, thinly sliced
5 -6 fresh thyme sprigs
olive oil
salt & pepper
Place the tomatoes on a cookie sheet with sides. Layer the onions on top. Add the garlic. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Nestle the sprigs of thyme in the tomatoes. Drizzle the olive oil over the mixture. Bake at 350 for 60 minutes; cool. Remove the thyme sprigs. Blend the remaining ingredients in a food processor (this is where you can make it as chunky or smooth as you want.) Freeze in containers.
**I don't measure the salt, pepper, or olive oil. I just add it, including the olive oil. I go by looks more than anything. Haven't ruined a batch yet!!!
One of the nurses I work with is from Italy and she verified this is how her family in Italy makes their sauce. Hope you enjoy!!
